Those of you in need of a new post-apocalyptic fix, look no further. That is until Fallout: New Vegas comes out, but we haven't even seen screens or videos of New Vegas to make a judgment if it even will be good (It's not being developed by the same dev as Fallout 3).

I introduce Metro 2033. And its PC and Xbox 360 exclusive! No love for Sony's Army of idiotic grunts.

    About Metro 2033:
An action-oriented combination of horror, survival, RPG, and shooting, all based on a story by Russian author Dmitriy Glukhovskiy. The whole world lies in ruins. Humanity is almost annihilated. Due to the high-level of radiation cities became unsuitable for living. Humans have yielded the supremacy on Earth to a new species. Creatures mutated by radiation are more adapted to the changed world. There are only clusters of humans left on the planet ... At least, that's what the ten thousand survivors camped out in the various sections of the Moscow metro must believe, since they have no evidence that they are not the last ones alive. And now, even this way of life is being threatened by the evolved evil from outside. As Artem, you set out from the first invaded colony, fighting through a society of divided by desperate politics, ideologies and economies to warn the rest and reach the Polis stronghold before everything is destroyed.

I had no idea until I read the synopsis that this game is based heavily off a book...which is obviously called Metro 2033. Apparently the game is heavy on narrative, which would be a different refreshing feel for a FPS, almost RPG like.

I know we only have a teaser trailer, but from what it looks like it will be good. I think it will be pretty much a console version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. But I really like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series so I honestly can't wait to see more of this game.

Visually I think its beyond Uncharted 2...take a look:

The Developer has stated that the game is completely linear, with light RPG elements. Its all about the experience, the light RPG elements are thrown in to enhance the sense of survival in the desolate cold wasteland. Could this be the next BioShock? From what I have seen and heard, it very much could be.

Well considering the fact that its based on a story that was released in 2002 makes it no Fallout 3 clone. And if you read about the book (or game I guess) you can see that they really don't share much in common, expect that fact that the world was destroyed by bombs and radiation. But the people in Metros world did not hide in Vaults, they hid in underground sewer system, that eventually became cites and towns. I'll provide you the synopsis so that you dont have to go look for it.

And what I meant by the BioShock comment was: Metro 2033 is a single-player, story driven, heavy narrative, linear game......just like BioShock. It's not open world like Fallout 3, its like BioShock, straight forward with light RPG elements. And it follows the book extremely close just like the LoTR movies followed the books. It doesn't remind me of Fallout 3 in any way. Plus Fallout 3 tried to hard to be the next Oblivion and it failed. Fallout 3 isn't even as good as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, but you probably haven't played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. since it requires a pretty hardcore PC to play it. This game is trying to be just like the book, which I think makes it better.

From what I have read and seen about this game in the last two days it very much well can become the next BioShock. Sure we have BioShock 2 coming soon, but its just building on the success that that first had, which is teh same story driven technique that the first BioShock used, and the exact same technique that Metro 2033 is using.

Here is the book synopsis which is identical to the games:

The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct. The half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind. But the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory, the stuff of myth and legend. More than 20 years have passed since the last plane took off from the earth. Rusted railways lead into emptiness. The ether is void and the airwaves echo to a soulless howling where previously the frequencies were full of news from Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. Mutated by radiation, they are better adapted to the new world. Man's time is over. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on earth. They live in the Moscow Metro - the biggest air-raid shelter ever built. It is humanity's last refuge. Stations have become mini-statelets, their people uniting around ideas, religions, water-filters - or the simple need to repulse an enemy incursion. It is a world without a tomorrow, with no room for dreams, plans, hopes. Feelings have given way to instinct - the most important of which is survival. Survival at any price. VDNKh is the northernmost inhabited station on its line. It was one of the Metro's best stations and still remains secure. But now a new and terrible threat has appeared. Artyom, a young man living in VDNKh, is given the task of penetrating to the heart of the Metro, to the legendary Polis, to alert everyone to the awful danger and to get help. He holds the future of his native station in his hands, the whole Metro - and maybe the whole of humanity.

Trust me it miles ahead of the console versions, even if it's mostly because of all the incredible mods out there.

I'm happy with playing F3 on my 360, although I have a lack of mods it gives me more satisfaction knowing that I'm playing and beating the game how it was meant to be played.
